10.29.09: Today's Workout & Cake No. 3

Today's Workout:
-Custom Fit-Stability Bootcamp section
-BBC Chest & Abs Cardio

Here is my 3rd and final cake for course No. 1. Blue cake w/ Pink Roses. I had blue frosting left over from last week so I frosted it in blue. Not crazy about the colors but the roses turned out MUCH better than I expected! The freakin cake ended up all dried out-grrrrr. So irritated about that. It is a recipe I have made before-many times so Im not sure what happened. BOO. But since this is a cake decorating class-I will be happy my roses came out.

10.28.09: Workouts & NEW(er) car!!!!

Here is our new car! It's a 2006 Infiniti G35. We <3 it!!!! Such an upgrade from my 2000 base model Saturn LOL! I love my bluetooth & talking GPS the best! (and thats our house in the background).

Tonight is the final cake class for course 1. We are doing roses on our cake this week. They are tough. I am hoping to master them so my cake doesnt look bad :( Pictures tomorrow. Actually I dont think anyone is even reading this LOL.

10.23.09: Today's Workout & Almost Finished Blanket

Ok only 1 lb over normal. I would really like to start the holiday season at a deficit though....Next week I will be doing the original Barrys Bootcamp Academy series along w/ a VF check-in buddy. I say along w/ but I just mean we will both be doing it next week. She lives in NJ, so unfortunately we wont actually be working out together. These are some TOUGH w/o's!!!! Hoping to have some success w/ them next week :)

I am about 99% done w/ Buddy's blanket! It ended up HUGE (too big probably). I put a trim on almost all of it after I took this picture. I normally put a cute ruffle around the edges of these blankets but 1) its for a boy and 2) due to the size of this blanket (I hope) Buddy will continue to use it for a few year so I dont think he would appreciate a ruffle as a 3 year old toddler LOL. The trim is a darker green. I will post a finished pic of it in the near future...

10.22.09: Today's Workout and Cake No 2-Clown Cake

Course 1, Cake No. 2-Clown Cake:

The cake actually tasted really good this time! YAY! It was a white cake with citrus mousse filling and buttercream frosting. Everything from scratch. I did ok on the finished product here but we practiced the rose in class and I sucked so bad. I couldn't even begin to do it. grrrrrr-I HATE not being good at things. 10.21.09: Today's Workout and Tip

Today is cake class No 2 so I have my lovely smelling cake and a bunch of tubs of frosting sitting behind my desk at work...I will be strong. I will NOT dip my finger into one of those deliciously distcusting tubs of frosting. Makes it sound even worse when I use "tub" instead of "container" or "jar", doesnt it....still smells oh-so-yummy....If it ever cools down I can leave these things in my car but this is Phx and I dont anticipate that happening any time soon.

Today's Workout:
-Jump Force
-Kelsies KettleBell ab w/o

Jump Force is an AWESOME workout that uses light 1-3 lb dumbbells, a step, and a jumprope. I do step intervals when she does the weight only minutes because Im using this as a cardio w/o. With those modifications, following the advanced mod, and using an 8 inch step- I got an AWESOME w/o! The time flys cuz she does everything in one minute intervals.

Today's Tip: Flax Seeds and Flax Seed Oil
These seeds and oil attract oil-soluble toxins that become lodged in the fatty tissues of the body. Once attracted, they help to escort fat-soluble toxins out. That spells fewer fat stores and a trimmer you.

Today's Workout, Broccoli Recipe, and Cinnamon

Today's Workout:
-Aerobic Body Shaping
-10 Min Sol: Quick Tummy Toners-"bikini belly"

Today's Recipe: Citrus Broccoli

-3 bunches broccoli
-1 large clove garlic, peeled and sliced
-2 Tbs olive oil (or Pam)
-1 orange, zested and juiced
-2 Tbs citrus flavored Craisins or pomegranate seeds

Steam broccoli according to your steamers directions. In a skillet cook garlic in olive oil or Pam until golden brown, stirring frequently. Add ½ cup orange juice, 1 tsp orange zest and broccoli to skillet. Cook 2 min until heated. Season with salt and pepper if desired. Remove from heat & add Craisins or pomegranate seeds toss and serve.

Today's Tip: Cinnamon: Researchers at the United States Department of Agriculture showed that a quarter to one teaspoon of cinnamon with food helps metabolize sugar up to twenty times better than food not eaten with cinnamon. Excess sugar in the blood can lead to fat storage. Before you sip that chai tea latte or eat your oatmeal, sprinkle on the cinnamon.

Course No. 1, Cake No. 1-Rainbow Cake. This was my first attempt at cake decorating. It says "Jay Wil Kinney" ahhh so sweet :) I am working to perfect my cake recipe. I started my cake decorating class at Michaels yesterday. It was fun. I am in the beginner course. There are 3 other courses (intermediate, advanced, and fondant/ gum paste) and there are 4 classes per course. I intend to take all the courses.

Then my plan is simple: start my own cake decorating business. Can't be too hard right. Sure....I can also consider teaching the Wilton courses at Michaels. Lots of BIG plans for only taking one 2 hour class, right. We all have to dream. And my dreams are coated in frosting.

And for your viewing pleasure: Engrish. So reminds me of my time in Japan.

10.2.09: Today's Workout...

I could not fall asleep last night so I was planning on sleeping in and taking today as a rest day BUT 5:40 rolled around and I was WIDE awake. So I just got up and exercised...I did cut it a bit short so I could get things ready for tonight. It is Tammy's bday and we are having a girls night out! I hope Im not too tired tonight...
