This DVD contains three 20 minute workouts. Elise & Dr. Lisa work out in a gorgeous outdoor setting. You wont need any equipment for these workouts. You can play all or select a workout from the menu.

Cardio: After a warm up exercises include strut up & back, side step, knee lifts, hip pop, booty shake, pliet side steps, a few vinyassa flows, squat - curtsy - knee up, mt. climbers, and a yoga cool down & stretch.

Strength: After a warm up exercises include chair pose, pliet hip shifts, standing leg raises & glute work, vinyassa, hip circles, warrior 1, warrior 2, warrior 3 adding glute work, plank hip drops, cat cow, chair prayer series, and a quick stretch.

Power Stretch: After a warm up exercises include sun salutation A, B, & C, hip openers, chair, pigeon, double pigeon, modified bicycle, V ups, single leg stretch and a seated stretch. This routine contains more yoga poses than the previous 2 routines.

I rate these low intermediate workouts. Dr. Lisa provides motivation and health tips while Elise instructs. Each workout contains a few yoga vinyassas interspersed in the routines giving them a unique feel, though containing less yoga than the title indicates. The variety on this dvd makes it a great addition to anyones exercise library. The cardio is a bit dancy but easy to follow and the strength & stretch routines are straight forward. Elise shows the exercise first at a slower pace and then picks up the tempo. I received this dvd to review.

Acacia Presents: Ultimate Kettlebell Workout for Beginners

This dvd contains these three 25 minute workouts: a tutorial, drills and combos, and a core workout. Paul leads with 2 background exercisers in a beautiful outdoor setting. You will need a kettlebell for these workouts.

Tutorial: Teaches proper form, safety tips, and all of the kettlebell exercises you need to know to do the next two segments.

Drills & Combos: after a warmup each exercise is performed for 30 seconds with little rest in between. Exercises include halo, halo & squat, squat, squat & upright row, swing, swing side step, single arm swing, clean to rack, clean to rack and overhead press, tri extension, progressive lunges, side lunge, side lunge & bi curl, dips, cooldown & stretch.

Core: after a warmup each exercise is performed for 30 seconds with little rest in between. Exercises include halo chops, torso twists, lunge twists, side bend, windmills, bell crunch variations, bell situps, V ups, sit up tuck & twists, a plank series with one hand on the bell, bench press & crunch, fly & crunch, and a stretch.

I rate these solid intermediate routines that are very straight forward and athletic in nature. I think the term beginner in the title is due to the fact that there is a 25 min tutorial included to get you safely started with kettlebells. You can adjust the intensity of the last two routines by adjusting the weight of your kettlebell. I used a dumbbell for these workouts and found it was easy to modify. REVIEW: TLT Better Burn Better Buns Featuring Tracie Long

Tracie leads this 55 min lower body focused cardio routine in a brick set with an awesome view of the ocean through the windows. You will gliding discs, a med ball, and an optional dowel for this workout. There are 2 background exercisers all performing a different level of intensity. The DVD includes a premix.

After a warm up, exercises include plank walks, lying low back work, ball squats & squat hops with core rotation, standing leg work using the discs, standing balance leg work, ball to elbow knee pulls, lunge & dips series using the ball, squat clean and press with the ball, fast feet agility drill, pendulum, ball skater and stir the pot, side step & shuffle, pushups, disc dip set, a floor core series using the ball, bridge hamstring pulls using the discs, side plank work, and a yoga-esque stretch.

I rate this an intermediate routine following Tracie, you can adjust your intensity by following a mod or using a heavier/ lighter med ball. I used an 8 # med ball and got a great sweaty workout. The TLT set focuses on purposeful movements so the more you focus on each exercise the better results you will get. This is a great unique workout that is fun & will work your buns in a new way and I love the included balance work. I did not receive this dvd to review.

Women's Health Magazine: THE Magazine for Fitness Lovers Like Us!


If youre like me, you like a good magazine, but not just any magazine - a great fitness magazine that includes lots of great health & fitness info without being targeted towards body builders. I love a magazine that I can relate to and Women's Health is that magazine! Women's Health Magazine is targeted toward women who want to achieve a healthy, attractive weight by eating well and exercising! Looking and feeling good  means more than makeup and high heels to Women's Health Magazine - WH focuses on what you can do, right now to improve your life. WH is from Rodale - a great name in the fitness industry.


I had the pleasure of reviewing their upcoming fitness issue. This issue was jam packed with feel good articles including a ton of fabulous recipes, workouts, fitness tips, healthy living tips and so much more.

If youre looking for a great resource for exercise tips, healthy living advice, delicious recipe ideas, and tons of awesome healthy living tips - Women's Health Magazine is for you. You wont find a ton of intimidating models, crazy exercise routines, or strange juice cleanses in WH. You will find a ton of articles you will want to save so you can refer to them later. Hang the workouts on your wall, put the recipes in your cookbook and keep coming back to WH for more great info to get yourself moving more, eating better, and living happier.

Heres an article I LOVE! The Perks of Lifting Heavy Weights! These are women's articles I love seeing. Many women do not realize how necessary heavy lifting is and I love that Women's Health is getting the news out there! The article hightlights the benefits of weight lifting. It gets your heart pumping, you build lean muscle mass which burns more calories at rest, you are stronger, your bones are stronger, and improve your overall health! Read more on WH online.

I had the pleasure of reviewing some fabulous must have items from Kohl's that have kicked off my healthy summer! It was SUPER hard choosing which healthy living items to choose, seeing that Kohl's has such a large variety of items. I knew I wanted some fab workout clothes but I was torn between the Nutribullet and the empower Adjustable Weighted Vest. While these items are both very different, they both contribute to a healthy household. The Nutribullet can make the most amazing smoothies and blend whole fruits and veggies into amazingly healthy meals. But the empower Adjustable Weighted Vest can really amp up my workouts, from rebounding, squats, walking, and more.

I chose the empower Adjustable Weighted Vest  and am so happy I did!!! Check out how cool it is! Made to fit women, is comfy, and fits so well. It is adjustable from 4 to 8 pounds so you can choose how much additional weight you want to add. I use my vest for outdoor walks, indoor rebounding, and also to up my poundage on all my lower body work. Such a great comfy way to up your workout anty. Kohl's carries quite a few awesome empower fitness kits that I have my eye on. 

I also chose these FABULOUS Nike workout tops that i just could not resist. Kohl's offers a ton of super cute workout clothes so it was hard to choose but I finally narrowed it down to these two super fun tops. I will be wearing these on my next few upcoming 5K's because they are just too cute not to show off. Check them off. You know I love rainbows and this sparkly rainbow Nike Just Do It Tank above really caught my eye! Love the rainbow effect and the cut is amazing. Made for women so no odd fit on this tank top. And below is too perfect for an upcoming race, gym workout, or to wear on a casual day around town: Nike Hustlin' From Start to Finish! Ya baby, you know I am!! The fabric is dry fit so it is perfect for those hot & sweaty summer workouts! This is also made for women so the fit is superb and the fabric on both is super breathable and perfect for working out.

REVIEW: Laura Tarbell's Plyo Pilates

Laura leads this 42 min workout with 2 background exercisers in a brick gym. You will need an exercise ball for this pilates core & plyo cardio workout.

After a warmup, Laura alternates core focused pilates exercises with athletic plyometrics. Exercises include fast moguls, bicycle, double leg extension, scissors, bridge, single leg jumps, side plank on the ball, ball pikes, V-ups, jump lunges, elevator planks with your feet on the ball, V-twists, plyo lunges, skater, split jumps, roll-ups, plank series, plyo squats, teaser, leg series lying over the ball, and a final stretch.

I rate this a high intermediate routine as some of the pilates exercises were a great core challenge and the fun athletic cardio will get your heart pumping. I am a huge fan of Laura's instruction style and appreciate her cuing, form pointers, and unique combination of exercises. This dvd has a place in everyones dvd library. I love core cardio workouts and this one is like nothing else I have come across, work that core and get your heart pumping! I received this dvd to review.
